I am new here on allnurses.com. This is a great site. My question is, aside from the minimum qualifications (license, experience, CPR, etc), what else do ICU directors/head nurses use to determine if they will interview a candidate or put resume in the trash? Honest answers appreciated. Thank you.

I applied for a couple ICU positions all out of state and one thing I believe bolstered my cover letter was that I mentioned a couple things related to longevity. It's expensive to train a new graduate. Once I added this to my cover letter I had three callbacks within a couple weeks. Hope this helps
