Pigeon holed in to Neuro ICU?

  1. I recently had an interview for a neuro ICU position. I thought it was what a wanted to do, but now I'm afraid I may be getting too specific and pigeon holing myself into neuro when it comes to my future career. My background is in a surgical/trauma ICU. I found that I loved caring for TBI patients. This particular neuro ICU where I interviewed does not take care of any trauma. There patients typically have brain tumors, hemorrhages, stroke, etc. Any neuro ICU nurses out there that can speak of their experience? Do you enjoy the neuro ICU? What do you enjoy about it? Is it challenging to find a job outside of the neuro ICU afterwards? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I guess I'm just accustomed to trauma and I'm afraid I'll miss it but be too specialized to go back. Thanks in advance for any help!
