Mixing IV solutions

This sounds weak, however is it correct if you add 50ml of D5W and 50ml of 0.9 normal saline you net D5.45?
Thanks

I would think if you mixed that you'd get D5NS but I am wondering why you'd be mixing IVF's in the first place...why do you not use the 1000 or 500 cc bags of fluid already mixed?

You would get D5NS. Why are you mixing primary fluids?
