Wexford health care in corrections

Specialties Correctional

Hi, does anyone have experience with Wexford as far as their management of a correctional site? My current company lost their contract and the winner was Wexford. Any info is appreciated.

I don't know anything, but I'm guessing you must work for the same state as I do. We're being told maybe in Oct. they will come in and explain pay/benefits and allow us to apply for our jobs. Have no idea if that is accurate.

I hadn't heard that, but funny thing is I got a notice from CMS in the mail today to "remember the dates" to sign up for benefits in October for 2011. Are you in Maryland?

Yep, in Maryland. I was talking to one of the providers and he said Sept. 26, Wexford is supposed to notify the state of staffing plans. He said the date had already changed once and who knows if it is rumor or accurate.

It seems like everything is up in the air. I will be updating my resume just in case. My co-worker says that you have to "apply" to the new company for your job. I guess since they underbid CMS by 9 million (what I heard), they may be making some staffing cuts. We will see.

We got a "transition" packet today. It outlines the benefits of Wexford and basically introduces the company to us. There are good and bad points to this transition. I may start looking for a new job just in case. For example, they offer 15 days a year of PTO, not including holidays. Currently with CMS we get 26 days a year, but that includes holidays. Wexford automatically will deduct 4% of your pay to go into 401K,but you can opt out. But I didn't see anything about matching funds. We will see.

Out of curiosity, did your facility just hire a ton of people? We were told that maybe they were hired so people could use up their PTO, but one of the new people commented that they were told they could apply for any job since no one would have seniority with Wexford--technically true, but still suprised by her statement. Seems that the current staff is being told one thing and new hires (all of whom are new grads) are being told something else.

I work for Wexford health. I work in Illinois i guess they are OK could be alot better. Have fun

No, we are just as short staffed as ever. At least at my site I haven't noticed any new nurses. Especially new grads which besides orientation have to be trained!

Are you saying CMS is OUT in Maryland? Everywhere? Yippee-ki-yi-yay! I can come home!

Well....technically they are out but, they are protesting the award of the contract. Wexford did an "orientation" at our site this week. We have to wait for "offer letters" in a couple of weeks to see what our wages will be. We will see.:uhoh3:

It figures CMS would protest the award. They are so . . .scummy.
