PHS pay rates in Alabama

Specialties Correctional

Does anyone have an idea of Prison Health Service's RN pay rates in Alabama (or Southeastern states)?

Any PHS nurses out there with advice? I have an interview Wednesday. It's for an HSA position.

In Northern California (Redding)I got $24 per hour as an LVN (PHS) - I think their pay is slightly higher than most, in a LTC facility in the same town I only got 17-but always it depends on area

I think that alot of the time , the amount of money that you get paid is according to your contract with the county that your jail is in. I am in South GA, and have been with PHS for 10 years, and am the HSA. I wish you well on your interview and hope you get the job. I love working with PHS. Also, I think that alot depends on the territory that you work as well. The South is great with PHS as far as Alot of us are concerned. If you get the job, you need to make friends with Dr. McQueen. She will be wonderful to help you if you will let her. I just wish that she were still here with us in GA. Good luck and let me know if I can help you out.:balloons:

Are you working at Lowell or the men's prison?

That wage is low, especially considering your experience and the fact that they start off new grads at almost 20 just one county up.

Duh, OK, I should have deduced that you worked county. Wasn't thinking. I was conparing it to state facilities which start RNs at about $23 with bennies and $29 without.

gainesville is indeed better pay than Marion county. I worked shands ER for years and did not mind the drive because the pay was that much better, even though it was almost an hour drive.
