I've worked at a juvenile detention facility for the last 6 years providing first aid and OTC meds per state standards. I've finished nursing school and landed an LPN position with the county jail. I'm worried that adult corrections will be more difficult that juvenile. I have
heard and seen a lot with these kids. I look younger than i am, short, and have a small frame. Is there really a big difference between the two other than adults have had more years to perfect their manipulations? any advice for me? thanks!
I have worked both. There is a huge difference. Adult facilities are very different than juvenile. The adult facilities have much more violence, and the inmates are much more sophisticated with their manipulation. Also, being older, they have more health problems. If you are going to an adult facility, your acuity level and work difficulty just went up exponentially.
