As a nursing assistant, sheriff (LVN).

Its been a LONG process, about 2 years.

I've been a psych nurse for 3 years and all that hard work has paid off.

From the written, to the oral exam (placed in band 1 with a 100%), to the background to the medical it has been an exciting journey.

Thanks to this board for all the advice, I start orientation in September and I'll find out which jail and shift i'll be placed in.

My salary has been quoted and i'm more than pleased, any questions i'll be glad to help you out!

What is the benefit package like? Do they offer help with school if you decided to go back? What are you doing for housing? I thought about applying for the jails but most of the jails are out in the middle of no where which is a Looong commute. Are you living near by?

I will check out the benefit package during orientation next week, but for the most part they are free for a family 4 if you obviously dont choose the top tiers.

The county will pay for your education if you are accepted in a RN program.

Housing? I live roughly 30min away not including traffic, considering id be goinf towards traffic might be a tough commute, im praying for the AM shift.

That's awesome! Congrats to you and thank you for the info. I'll have to look into it.

Did your oral interview consist of scenarios? Was it a panel of 2, 3 or 4? How long did it last? How long after did you receive your results?

Yes i had i think 2-3 pages of scenarios/questions.

Panel of 2 RN's, i heard sometimes 3.

Maybe 30 minutes?

Ahh i dont remember when my results came in, but i scored band 1 at 100%.

Make sure you emphasize continuing education and advancement with the department, your family, honored and blessed, etc.

The process has changed now, i kno theres an nclex style test now?
