I have been going back and forth trying to figure out if I should take a prison position. I could make the same pay with 4 ESI's a month (Extra shift incentive) in addition to my full time pay. But is working in the prison worth it? I would have better benefits in the CA prison system but the drive is about 30 min compared to my 5-10 commute now. I have been a RN for 2.5 years in acute care and I am already ready for some change, just not sure that the prison is it. Also how much will it disrupt my daily family life? I hear that you can get stuck with overtime if someone doesn't show up. Help! I would like to hear others experiences.
