First Death ThreatRegister Today!
- by aicfan May 21, '12I am a nurse me at a county jail. I had an inmate that was on trazadone for sleep. Per the orders from our jail physician we are not allowed to give sleepers. Inmate angry over this and I was first nurse to not give med. Inmate told another nurse that she was going to KILL B@#ch meaning me when she got out. Anyone have similar experience?

We did have an inmate say in front of a CO that he was going to have nurse beaten up and shot. They transferred him to a maximum custody facility. That inmate was a complete idiot as he was housed in a lowest level PC yard.
I would talk with your supervisor as well as a shift commander (security) and ask them for advise on how you should handle this type of situation.
For example, I did not realize that should an inmate threaten me, I could declare an "ICS" and have that inmate on lockdown for 72 hours while security investigate the incident.
- May 27, '12 by deyo321Why did other nurses give it if facility policy is no sleepers? Just sayin... I had one inmate yell "It's your job to give me what I want" which struck me as so funny that a laugh escaped before I could put on my game face (thinking hooker) to which he yelled " I want that ***** fired!" Oh well...and he works at our local brew pub restaurant.
