California prison nurse schedule??

Hi I am just wondering if there are any Calif. prison nurses out there that could shed some light on the scheduling for me. It looks to me like the majority of you are working 8 hour shifts??? I am just wondering how much flexibility you have in switching shifts, stacking shifts, etc. Basically making little windows where you can take extended weekend W/out using vacation(5 day or so trips). IMO one of the major benefits of nursing is the flexibility of scheduling at a lot of facilities. I am just wondering if this is also the case for prison nurses (in Ca) or if it’s more traditional fixed schedule. I’m still in school and just exploring options.
