I am being considered for a position at CMC in San Luis Obispo, CA as an LVN. I have completed the interview and reference checks; now waiting for the background check.

I would appreciate any information that would be deemed relevant to my success in the position (:heartbeat if there are no holes in the hiring process). I would like to know what a typical day is like. What type of scrubs are appropriate? Are printed tops out? I have peds, animal, Hawaiian, ect., everything but solid colors! What is orientation like?

Any and all information will be appreciated; I am new to correctional nursing. I will be relocating 260 miles, I want be prepared.

Thanks.

You could either talk to the nurses that already work there, or talk to the nursing supervisor at that facility. I would guess that each facility would be different on attire. IE: in the facility I work in , Per Security ,we can not wear solid yellow scrubs(that's what the felons wear) we can not wear solid orange or solid red scrubs(that what the Maximum inmates wear). (A contract Dental Assistant wore yellow ,once on her first day, and almost didn't get out the door, the hassle, she had getting in, should have gave her her 1st clue, she was gonna have problems, trying to get out..granted she was female, in a all male facility, but Yellow & new C.O., is not good, :wink2:) But we can wear anything else. Street clothes w/Lab coat, scrubs or basically whatever we want.... someone at that facility should be able to tell you, what is okay.
