Application prior to graduation

Hi, will be graduating from the RN program this May. Live in St. Paul, MN and job prospects out here are dire. I intend to explore correctional nursing, especially in CA, and was just wondering if I could submit an application prior to graduation/ procuring RN licence.

I don't know about California, but Nevada requires a year of nursing experience to qualify as a Correctional Nurse. Even if California doesn't, you would not meet their minimum requirements until you have your license. I am sure that your application would not be accepted without one.

Thanks Orca for the response, just made up my to get a license and practice for about a year before revisiting this sub-specialty

Check out online hospital sites in Arizona. Many offer new grad orientation programs in Phoenix, Tucson, etc. You may have to leave the Midwest, like I did several years ago, to get started. Hey--it's warm, too! Good luck.
