Hi everyone...anyone :-)Anyone applying or applied for UCONN for the 2013 MEIN class? Looking for others to share the nail-bitting experience with!!

Hi Everyone!September is upon and hopefully all those who applied for the August review are starting to hear back:-)Thanks for your feedback Melissa! Its good to hear from past/current MEIN students! I'm sure many people on this forum (including the lurkers :-) ) have a lot of questions that you guys/gals can help us future students with. Did you feel the disorganization of the admissions process also trickled into how the program was run? Also, what was your typical week in the program like?

Hello everyone! I just joined and your comments have been very helpful. I applied to the August review but I am still currently taking my last prerequisite, so I'm very nervous. I'm hoping my GPA will get me a provisional acceptance...if they really do make those. Was anyone accepted who was still completing classes? I'm also applying to Yale as my second choice and Quinnipiac but I'm still crossing my fingers for uconn.

Hi Ajbernier!Welcome to the group! I'm glad to hear this forum has been helpful thus far! Hopefully more info will be added along the way as we learn more about the process and the program. I have not come across anyone with provisional acceptance for this program, although, its actually not a bad idea. Maybe you can call/email the school and ask.... From what I recall from the info session is that your file must be complete in order to be reviewed. But, you never know, especially if they are not organized as others have mentioned. I would contact them. Goodluck!

Hello,

I have been trying to find information on UCONN's accelerated nursing program for the last hour and I'm having little to no luck. When are applications due and when are start dates for the program ? When is the start date for 2013 specifically ? Or perhaps someone could send me a current site for the program ? Thank you !!!!

Hi. This is my first-ever post on allnurses. I applied for MEIN in June, but my prerequisites were not complete, so I was told that they would be unable to review my application at that time. Fortunately, I managed to get everything done by the August deadline; now I am just waiting and crossing my fingers. Has anybody else received a reply yet? Is it too soon to begin following up with them via email or phone? I, too, have noticed that they tend to be disorganized. I don't even know if there is still space in the 2013 cohort. If not, do you know if they accept people for January 2014 (or do they just reject you)? My first choice is the Waterbury campus.

Thanks so much! Good luck everybody!

Classes get started 2013 is January, but I don't know if they will accept applications at this point. They have 3 application dates per year: January 31, June 30, and August 31. They offer the program at 4 different locations throughout the state. The program's website isn't the best, but it's a good starting point (Master’s Entry into Nursing (MEIN) | School of Nursing).

Best of luck!

Hi! I've also been lurking on these forums for awhile and this is my first post. I'm waiting to hear for the "August" review. I have to agree with the disorganization of the admissions department. In their defense they did change offices over the summer and they have had some staffing changes. I know all this because they lost two important pieces of my application and waited until August 29th to let me know! So after several trips to UConn, I know that the August review was actually conducted on September 6th.

My recommendation to anyone applying is to go in person and speak with someone in admissions. I can't count how many emails I've sent to different people in the department that went unanswered.

Good luck to everyone waiting for the review! Hopefully we'll hear soon!

Hi MEINstudent

Congrats on starting your last semester..the end is in sight! I am starting the program in 2013 and am curious about the actual start date. Did you start in the beginning of January or with the normal college semester? Also, did you manage to get sufficient financial aid? (I know that might be a bit personal, but just curious)And, the list of everything you need to buy, are there other ways to get them instead of purchasing them from the school? Thanks for any help/advice!!!

Hi everyone! Welcome newcomers :-) ! I do hope we start to hear back soon! I can't speak for everyone, but I have not heard from the school since the email asking that deposits not be sent in until further instruction. I'm guessing it was due to the move and change in staff. All of this is unsettling but understandable (maybe, lol). Let's hope that those waiting to hear from the August review will hear back this week and then maybe as a cohort we will hear about what steps to take next (fingers crossed :-) ) Hang in there everyone!

Soooo, how's everyone doing :-)?! (lol, as crickets chirp in the background). Has everyone worn down the path between their front door and mailbox yet? :-) Any newcomers to the cohort?!?! I hope so:-) Well, we are already a little over a month away from our full day orientation. Where did time go?!

Full day orientation? How do you know it's a full day?? What else do you know??? And yes, there is definitely a worn path between my front door and the mailbox!!! :)

Hi!! I had no idea about a full day orientation. Now I'm nervous I didn't get something I should have! I live in Boston and work full time.. do you know what day it is? I would need to try and get that day off ASAP! I havent received anything in the mail since my acceptance letter. I'm going to try calling tomorrow and see what I can find out. It's realllly hard to plan ahead for the next year of our lives when we have no dates, no set financial breakdown, etc etc! I'm so anxious to get all the info we need! Alaboringstart, if you got a letter do you mind sharing what details (if any)it had about orientation, etc? Thanks!!! So glad we have forums like this. Atleast I know I'm not the only one feeling anxious about everything! :)
