transfer within CT community colleges

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Connecticut community colleges follow the same curriculum and are all on the same page at any point in time. Thus, transfers within is seamless. I'm thinking of transferring from Norwalk Community College to Naugatuck Valley this Fall 2010. Anyone care to give the pros and cons to such a move? Should I or should I not? Would appreciate any inputs especially from those who have or have had experience with Naugatuck Valley Comm. College. Thank you.

Why transfer?

mattfd37, I want to transfer because I got tired of I95 traffic. And it's gonna get tougher because I'm losing my carpool partner this semester. (I live in the Shelton area). Have to weigh pros & cons, though. This is why I am soliciting advice/inputs from folks who may have gone through a similar process. For one thing, transferring to NVCC would mean I'd have to go through the adjustment period (r/t new professors, classmates, clinical setting, etc.) over again. Care to share your opinion? Thanks.

All you had to say was I95 traffic. With or without a carpool person that commute stinks. What semester will you be entering? Did they accept you already? If it were me though it would have to more then just traffic. Of bunch of talked after the final about this and everybody said they would stay mostly because of our classmates and teachers. We actually have two people that live in Norwalk too. Did any of your current classmates transfer? How many were in your class? There about 130 at NVCC.

mattfd, I'm already in the program. Going into 3rd semester this Fall 2010. We were 55 (I think) at the start. Lost a few after the 1st sem but there were "rejoiners" at the 2nd. Don't know yet how many more we're losing after this 2nd semester. I've already gotten close to most of my classmates and they (along with the professors that I have come to love) are the main reason why even if I have had it with I95 traffic, it's so hard for me to decide to move.

Yea its tough. I would LOVE to go to NVCC because its closer, but I couldn't leave my friends at GWCC. I've been lucky with I91 traffic to and from NH..so far! I'm hoping for Midstate for the 2nd semester. You'll make the right decision when you're ready.

Hi Looking4ward2bRN,

I am a former NCC now seeking re-adm for 3rd semester. I heard the fall 2010 class may be full.....do you have any info on this? I'm sorry that my chance of acceptance is based upon others failure.... but I guess it is what it is.....soooo do you have any idea how many people may not have pass 102/103? Thanks for any info.

All the best in your decision to transfer!

Hi Determine2b,

Just try and inquire about your readmission. The sooner the better. Good luck!:)

I still haven't made a firm decision on the transfer to NVCC. The deadline is July 1st so I guess I still have time left to keep praying for discernment.
