Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2012

U.S.A. Connecticut

ooops... The other one had 2011 instead of 2012... let's try this again:

Just thought I would start a new thread for the current application cycle. Questions... stats... rumors... etc!

My question is... for those applying this cycle, how did you do on the TEAS V? Since this is the first year they are using this test, it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

(Please don't post TEAS 3 or TEAS 4 results, as the scores are NOT comparable with the TEAS V.)

@allforthekidds: oh ok, thanks for your update on the nclex! we need the license in order to go for our BN, which kind of sucks! without the license, no BN!

are you free on the 14th to meet up?

anyone concerned about the dosage calculation exam? Im on chapter 10, but I don't feel like there's going to be enough time for me to pull a 90. Does anyone have any idea what it's like?

@saramisu: I've been to lazy to start the dosage calculations book. why do you think there's not going to be enough time for you? what do you mean? how much time do we get? I'm hoping they will give us a pretest exam when shcool starts so we kinda know how it will look like...I don't even know how many questions will be on there!

Don't freak out yet! It's only the beginning of July! From what I know about CCC's exam, it's 10 questions and you have half an hour. Just keep doing the practice question in the book, know your conversions, and don't over think it! I'm not sure about the first exam, but I was told by a student that during the semester we'll need to know how to convert between metric, household, and apothecary systems (mL to fluid ounces/teaspoons or grains). Just keep practicing. Also check out dosagehelp.com and there are many other online sources for more practice! Don't give up!!

Maybe im jumping the gun a bit then, because I've already memorized the house hold conversions, lol. I study for 1-2 hours per day, been doing it since June. I thought we had to know EVERYTHING.

Nursewannabe- our exam is during the first week of school. We have three tries to get a 90+

Just familiarize yourself with the pages they told us to go through. From what I've heard, it's not too bad of a test and the people who don't do well were they ones that waited til that week to study! Remember that our course leader said no one needed the third attempt last year! It's not going to be like a coursework exam, they know we're learning it from a book and want us to refresh our math skills. Just do what you're doing and you'll do great! Don't stress out about things that are over a month away. That's how you drive yourself crazy haha!

@saramisu: ok, now I understand your fear....this is so unfair! our exam (NVCC) is at the end of October! We were told at orientation that the US kills about 98000 people a year due to medication errors...one wonder why lol if they give you the exam right at the beginning of the semester, without giving you time to go over the stuff...please don't hate me for saying that. just wanted to throw it out there! Don't take it personal, I just think it's better the way NVCC does it...exam is in the middle of the semester!
