Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2012

U.S.A. Connecticut

ooops... The other one had 2011 instead of 2012... let's try this again:

Just thought I would start a new thread for the current application cycle. Questions... stats... rumors... etc!

My question is... for those applying this cycle, how did you do on the TEAS V? Since this is the first year they are using this test, it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

(Please don't post TEAS 3 or TEAS 4 results, as the scores are NOT comparable with the TEAS V.)

Glad to know I'm not the only one! My friend (going to CCC) was able to register because her major changed. Her last name begins with a 'K'. I am also an 'S' so if they were going alphabetically, which I doubt, I'd be almost last. I think they are having a similar glitch with this as they did with transferred credits being entered in the computer. I have class today, so I'll be stopping by for sure. Got to keep them on their toes

I'm towards the very beginning. So while that IS a possibility, my hunch is that it might be giving them too much credit for organization. :lol2:

Stopped by registrar at CCC today and asked when my major would be updated to nursing so that I can register for class. She looked up my ID and after clicking on the computer, told me that I'm all set and she switched me over. I came home tonight... not switched...still can't register. What a pain!

Oh no. Sorry to hear it's still a hassle!!

I had some time to kill today, so I decided to try to solve my account issue over the phone. While I had to talk to 2 different departments, cut off the usual runaround they try to give and wait awhile for a call back, they were actually able to take care of it. So I was finally able to register for NUR101 and I took care of the background check while I was at it.

So mssjez, hopefully if you call back they'll be helpful for you too!

CTDon - I tried emailing mailing yesterday...I'll be calling today. I know I have time to register before orientation, but I want to make sure they haven't screwed up my paperwork like the whole transfer classes mess where they told me I wasn't eligible for the program haha. If I have time today before class, I can stop by again too....

Called today... first they gave me a run around "Did you speak with a counselor", etc... The I get the "Oh, someone changed in but this little box needs to be clicked and apparently that must make a difference". Ya think? Now when I try to register, I get the Pre-req/test score error. I emailed the Nursing counselor and he should take care of it. I'm so close!!

I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM right now. I'm meeting with him tomorrow. Also, have you dropped of your health forms yet? I brought mine to the 8th floor, to a woman in an office. Jeez, I hope that was right. Oh the many things that can go wrong, yikes!

So the admissions counselor registered me, I am waiting for my loans to go through. I have paid my student fees, does anyone know if they will kick me out while Im waiting for the loan to go through? Yikes

@ Saramisu - Wow you've already dropped off your health form?! Did you get a flu shot already or did they tell you you could wait till the fall? I spoke with someone who said to have it done by October but I'm still worried since I've been given the wrong info so many times!

Also, does anyone know if/when CPR classes will be held at CCC? I'm pretty sure that there were at least two held at CCC last summer.. I tired calling the number on the back of the acceptance letter but I had to leave a vm and haven't gotten a call back. I'll have to try again tomorrow..

Oh, also FYI I had the exact same registration problems. The advisor (who shall not be named :) said it was because they didn't have a final grade on Micro.. even though it's not a prereq. Makes total sense. :icon_roll Anyway, once I emailed him that yes, indeed, I am passing and, no, there is no possible way that I will not pass.. he fixed it and I was FINALLY able to register. I thought that the whole 'I'm still in Micro' thing had been put to bed when we had met face to face three weeks ago and I told him that I was fairly certain that I could never go back to class and I would still pass.. but no. Had to follow up with a couple emails. Sigh.

They told me I could wait until Sept for the flu shot. All my titers came back positive within a couple of days and I had a freak accident last year so coincidentally had been given the TdaP last year.

Have you paid in full yet? I am in the process of straightening out my loans, and I've paid the student fees. I don't want to get kicked out forever if it takes an extra week to go through. Anyone have any clue? I know under normal circumstances, I had until about July to pay my tuition in full, so long as I paid the student fees.

I registered! Yay! I think we have til July (first maybe) to pay for the semester. I was waiting for a grant to go through and it was just applied! Now I just have to pay the difference. They might give us info about CPR classes at orientation. I don't remember if the letter said when we needed to be certified by. I did mine already by going on American Red Cross' website and signing up for the class listed in the Infopacket and Nursing Handbook. Also, if you have loans you're waiting on, I would communicate with your loan company and financial aid. I know my loan company doesn't distrubute any loans until August.

@saramisu - you were right to hand in the health form on the 8th floor. I spoke to registrar and the counselor the other week and they both said it needs to go to the nursing secretary.

Does anyone know if I can just hand them a copy of my CPR Certification when I hand in my health form? I stopped by my old work's occ health to get a record of my Tetorifice booster that they gave me in 2009. Now I'm just going to a local walk-in clinic that I've been to a few times (I don't have a PCP) and they said they can do all the titers, a physical, and the TB test. However they told me that there is no titer for Tetorifice, they just need a record of the vaccine. I didn't realize this... is this right?

CCC listed the books for NUR*101 finally. Doesn't look too bad, I though it'd be more expensive than that. I'm not sure about the recommended books by the bookstore though. I've heard that we'll have enough readings to keep us busy without supplemental study guides. Does anyone who is finishing their first year have an opinion on this?
