Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2011

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hello all,

It's almost that time of year again! I'm applying to the 2011 class which the application period begins this November 1st. We have two months to prepare our applications! Anyone else applying? I've seen the support the last year's class has with this sort of thread and I figured there should be one started for 2011 applicants. What is your TEAS score? GPA? A&P I grade? What were the averages that the 2010 applicants had and they are now starting the fall 2010 program?? Good luck!!!

Off topic but I LOVE your image up above! haha :)

LOL, I only wish my workouts looked half as good as that! :D

My major changed to Nursing on MyCommnet. Today I was looking at my records and it's back to General Studies? Odd. I also saw that 4 people were able to register but registration doesn't open up until next week? I mailed my letter back.

Hi studentnurseCT,

Are you going to Gateway? I looked up Gateway and it says their registration for online, continuing students started April 1st, so that's why you're seeing some people who have already signed up. In-person, new & transfer registration begins May 2nd.

I'm at Capital and MyCommnet still shows me in the nursing program. Maybe you should call or e-mail them just to confirm? I mailed my letter back around April 14th & I had changed some info. at the top of the page... but none of that information has been updated in my account. I keep wondering if they received my letter? I'm starting to get nervous. I don't want to get kicked out for something stupid like that. Now I wish I paid extra for confirmation of delivery/signature required.

Does anyone know if you have to wait until A&P2 is completed to enroll in Nurs101? Also, what's up with Capital? Since early 2010 I've sent them e-mails with questions (to different departments) and NO ONE has responded. It's like they will only take phone calls.

It's back to Nursing this morning. Yes I am a new student to Gateway I guess that would explain it. It just made me a little nervous. It would be nice if it showed "acceptance letter received" or and email response? I am going to register in person Monday (the deadline) so there should be no issues. I see that CCC has book information but nothing for Gateway yet.

Is there anyone else starting at Gateway in the fall?

You can't enroll until your A&P grade comes in because your acceptance is contingent upon passing.

Hi everyone,

I went and registered for Nursing 101 today at Capital. What you need to bring with you is proof that you completed AP2 and your final grade. They will NOT enroll you until you have that done. You have until orientation to register, which for Capital is June 7th. If you do not register before June 7th, you seat will be forfeited. They will also ask for proof that you are registered for Microbiology or have already taken it. They also want you general psych requirement which they should be able to pull up from your transcripts you had sent in already. Also, make sure you have completed your FAFSA and have gotten your award letter from your school already. If you are unsure if you have received that yet, it will be on your mycommnet under the financial aid tab. If your FAFSA has not yet been received by the school you will have to pay registration fees when you register, just a heads up.

Spachild had posted some info earlier regarding Capital, and I think her responses from the school came right from an FAQ handout I picked up today. She covered most of the important details regarding the nursing program and class schedules. there was one question on here that may help clarify our inability to choose our clinical. Q: "DOES A STUDENT SELECT CLINICAL SCHEDULES? A: NO. The clinical assignments are made by the course leader of the particular semester.

Also this FAQ hand out recommends not working more then 20-24 hours a week to accommodate classes and adequate time for studying... That would feel like being on vacation!

I hope this helps some of you!

Mixy5446- How did you register? Did you meet with a guidance counselor and they enrolled you in nurs101, or did you just bring all that proof directly to registration? I've only been to Capital once, so I'm going to be lost when I go there.

Also, how much were the registration fees? Do they ask for your payment info as soon as you enroll? I'm using another person's credit card to pay, so I planned on going home and logging into mycommnet to pay... otherwise I have to bring that person with me, which could be a problem due to conflicting schedules.

Cow99,

I would call and ask the school about payments on mycommnet. I was told if I did not have financial aid I would have to pay the registration fee today. I know from a few semesters ago my registration fee was around $85?

I did go and meet with a counselor because the paper work said I needed too. They just checked off my final AP2 grade and the fact that I am registered for Micro for this summer. They signed off on my paper and I was able to register.

Fortunately all 3 offices are located in the same hallway on the second floor, guidance, financial aid and registration.

Hello cow99,

I too am attending Capital in the fall. I went directly to the counselors office the first day of registration as it was a requirement stated on our letter. When I got there, they told me to sit at the computer and register on mycommnet! I was upset because I had to take time off of work in order to go there to register in person as it was a "MUST" when I could have registered at home.

I have had many unanswered voicemails in the past from administration offices there so I learned best bet is to go in person.

My nursing acceptance letter states that Orientation is on June 17th? Did you mean to write the 17th or does your letter state the 7th???
