Nvcc pre-reqs

U.S.A. Connecticut

I found (finally) pre reqs offered at a time when I can take them. Specifically at nvcc on Sundays. Since I was previously a student at ncc I had to apply to nvcc and have to register as a new student. New student registration isn't available for another 2 weeks or so... Anyone know how quickly this particular section fills up? I know Sunday classes are rare and I'm assuming they're pretty popular for those of us who work during the week... I'm worrying it don't stand a chance of getting a seat. Anyone know if this section fills up quickly or not? I'm looking at chemistry this fall. Thanks!

Sunday classes- that's a great option:)

In my experience any science class fills up quickly. I don't know how in demand a Sunday chem class will be. In the event it's booked before you can register keep an eye on it. Often times a seat will become available because a student changes their mind or financial aid falls short and they get dropped. After your first semester you can register online at commnet and that makes a world of difference! I stayed up till midnight to register for my AP2 class when it became officially available and twenty minutes later 7 spaces were filled! As far as I know you cannot have access to online registering now, but next semester take advantage of it:) and good luck to you!

I had to register as a new student for a new community college and it took 5 business days maybe it will be the same for your school. If not you can email the teacher if it is filled and they have the power to override and let you in the class. Some teachers allow it some don't but it's worth a try if it does happen.

I was in your shoes a year ago. NVCC does not let extra students in any class-period. (I did a lot of classes at Northwestern, and they always accepted more than the max, so this was shocking to me). You should be able to register on commnet once registration opens for new students on April 22...so that means stay up on April 21 and at midnight, you can register. Like one of the previous posters said, if your class fills up, check it daily because people will drop it or get kicked out. NVCC is strict about paying fees at time of registration (however, it does take them about 2 business days to kick students out if they haven't paid).

All new students have to meet with an advisor before they can register. If you don't meet with yours, you won't be able to register and if you try, it won't let you in the class and it will say "advising hold".

Poop. Not good. They assured me on the phone that I'd be able to register online... On the 15th which I thought was strange. Not liking my odds here. Thanks for the info anyway. :(

I wonder why they said the 15th...continuing students (me) register tonight for this fall. I just checked my email reminder and it said new students on the 22nd. I HAD to get into an A&P that was offered on Saturdays. There were like 3 seats left when I was able to register. I was able to grab one, but they were gone in like 10 seconds...but over the summer seats became available, and then they were taken again, and then became available again. Do you know how to see on commnet if there are seats available?

I just checked...April 15th is when registration opens for new students for this SUMMER...April 22 (so midnight on the 21st) is for fall.

Yeah. I took classes at ncc for years. I don't know where they got that date either-but that came straight from the admissions office. If I don't get a seat I might as well forget it. This is my only option for repeating chem. It expired. :(

Are you looking to take it this summer or in the fall?

Fall. And I told them that. Gah!

Well, keep your hopes up-and seriously-check it daily! Registration for you is definitely the night of 21st into 22nd. And, if it is full when your registration opens up, just be prepared to register at any time over the summer when a seat opens. Also, if you don't get a seat, I believe NVCC might do a waitlist for classes (don't quote me on that though). You could call the registration office and see.

Another option is to apply next winter to Bridgeport. They will take Chem that is 7 years old.
