Hi All, I would appeciate some constructive feedback, as I am about to pull my hair out! I have been an RN for 14 years, a care manager for the past 2 1/2 years, and a nursing home supervisor for a year before that. My last hospital experience was in 2006. I have maintained a job in a nursing home to keep my basic nursing skills current the past year. My wish is to return to the hospital...bedside, med-surg (nothing fancy, but willing to learn anything), and have applied to ALL of them in my area, and beyond...but cannot even get a phone call back/chance to interview. How do I get to the recuiter/nursing manager to let them know that I am infact, not brain dead after my last job, but ambitious, willing and able to learn, and am very capable of picking up where I left off? If I do get to speak to a recruiter, I get the canned response..."it was/will be forwarded to a NM and then if they think you are a good fit, they will call" I could go full-time at a LTC but that is not what I want, and at this time in my life, I need to do something FOR ME (not just what is "easy")...if there is such a nursing shortage, whay am I not seeing any action???
