Hello

I need to take Chemistry 1 this summer because it is a requirement for the pre-nursing program that I want to get into next fall 2016, but I do not have the money to pay out of pocket, and I cannot get financial Aid for the summer because I do not attend school this pass semester. If I would have attended school this spring I would have been able to get financial aid for the Summer. I really want to take chemistry this summer because it would put me ahead and then I could take inorganic/organic for the Fall semester. The reason why I cannot take the chemistry in the Fall is because all the sections for the course are closed as of now I am on the wait list which I cannot be guaranteed a seat in the class. what I would like to know does anyone know of any scholarships/grants and even loans that I could get for the summer? The Chemistry 1 course begins on June 29,2015 which will be a five week course. If there is anyone out there who knows what resources I may tap into for the course.

Not exactly an answer to your financial question, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make the fall work. Where are you trying to take the course? What program do you hope to eventually get into? Most nursing programs in the state are more than happy to accept prereqs from the community colleges - is that where you are looking to take chem?

I did a quick search of the CT community colleges, and there are definitely openings for General Chemistry 1 in the fall (by Chem 1, I assume you mean General Chem, not Concepts of Chem). You might have to drive a bit, but there are open seats in several places. This is what I did. All the seats were taken at NVCC, so I drove an hour to Northwestern to take it.

As for getting ahead so you can take another Chemistry class, are you sure you need to? I don't know of any nursing programs in the state that require more than one semester of chem.

Not sure if summer has a payment plan or can do a deferment with the school with agreement between you or with your work.

I think there is one nursing program in the state that requires Chem 2 but it is a BSN program.
