I was told by an advisior at naugatuck all those classes (the ones i listed) would count towards GPA..including the Gen Bio since it was a pre-req for A&P...and Art, Humanities, Communications are all classes that can be used for nursing gpa. I'm just concerned with the computers class I took that years back..and it lowered my GPA.. but whatevv... Jan where are you going?

I have learned from experience that most the advisors don't know what they are talking about when it comes to specifics about the nursing program. Read the new info packet-it clearly states what they will count and won't count. Or call the nursing contact person at NV. She will tell you. I was accepted to NV and start in the fall!

I have to agree with Jan. I really don't think the advisors really know anything about getting in the nursing program and what is used in GPA because when they calculated mine they told me I have a 3.8 GPA and they said with my GPA I would have no problem getting in the program. Lol!! Guess what I didn't get in this time I was waitlisted. I have been at this since 2008 and I really think they should have separate advisors just for the students trying to get into nursing program. I refuse to give up on my dream. But if I were you I would just retake the computer class and keep at it. You should never give up on anything that you feel is right!!

If you read the nursing information packet, it tells you exactly what is counted in the nursing gpa. It was also on that link that you would check on mycommnet to see if everything is received. ENG 101, MAT137, CSA 101, A&P 1, A&P 2 (if taken/in progress), Concepts of Chem. I believe those are the only ones counted. Gen Bio is not, nor are humanities, because humanities can technically be taken in the program (though not recommended) and Gen Bio is a pre-req for A&P 1&2 and Micro.

Some of those will not count towards your nursing GPA. They only take the classes that are required for their program, so don't count gen bio, nutrition, and only count 1 elective. Your stats are good tho! Are you applying this fall? If so, you could re-take the computer course in the fall so you have something to do.

I have finished my first year at CCC in Nursing. For our class, they took all the classes you've taken in the past 5 years including nursing pre-reqs into you GPA calculation. I wish all of you the best of luck!

It changed after your class. It is now only the classes in the nursing packet...all there if you read it.

*If I could open PDF files, I'd copy and paste, lol. But for some reason, I can't on my laptop. BTW: mssjez, good luck with the last year of nursing!

Thanks! I'm excited for my last 2 semesters! For anyone who got in the program and is nervous, you advisors will be awesome and each freshman is paired with a senior nursing student mentor. The faculty and the other students make a great community to help you succeed. Also, I recommend making a private facebook group for your cohort. Its a great place to ask questions, share funny posts to lighten the mood before tests, and vent a little. Good luck everyone!
