i got my letter today. Whoa, we have a lot of books to get and the prices aren't cheap. Plus we have to get lab uniforms and school uniforms.

I just came on to type the same thing, I have done some research though, the following can be bought from barnes and noble for cheaper than they are asking for:9same editions and everything)

Understanding medical surgical nursing 4th edition their price:64.56 B&N 60.76

fundamentals of mental health nursing their price 32.26 BN 21.79

intro to maternity and pediatric nursing 65.41 BN 58.46

Anderson Nursing leadership (You can get used or even rent for 1/2 price)

Calculating drug doses 38.21 BN (new) 32.28 (you can get used or even rent for 1/2 price)

Core Concepts in Pharm 51.81 BN (new) 51.19 (you can get used or even rent for 1/2 price)

Student workbook for understanding med surg (they actually have it cheaper)

the fundamentals of Nursing Package is brand new coming out in December and can't be gotten used or broken up. if you go to the publisher's website they list each book that is in the package (it's actually cheaper to get the package the med dictionary alone is 50.00 the drug book is 42.00)

Somebody shoot me now!! I'm excited but now filled with trepidation, this course is going to be daunting, and each semester we get new books? OH Gawd what did I sign up for???

secretly can't wait

Other than standing on the street like Cartman from South Park?/

Friends and family, small loan from a Credit union. applying for the FAFSA and getting the CT loan?

there are loans just for CT residents, go to CT.gov and look up financial aide and it will list them there.

No I didn't check half.com most of the ones on amazon were like a penny or two less than BN.

I received my list on Saturday. You get information on the books, CPR classes, uniforms and physical examination form. The books are pretty reasonable for the semester, I believe it adds up to $250. You also have three payment options for tuition which I think is great for those who need more time to pay and will not be getting FA. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Can I ask are you a returning student? or which school your going to because your book list sounds a whole lot cheaper than mine. One text is 250 (it's the big book pack) plus the nursing pack which is 68.

I wonder if it's too late to transfer?

just curious

I was wondering the same thing. My books add up to about 700.00 alone, not even including the two sets of uniforms we have to get plus the nurses pack for 90.00.

Hey, did anyone find out how much they are going to have to pay after finanical aid? I dont want to wait to the last min and then find out that I owe and can't go to school. I wondering if we have to wait until Jan 3.

it said you wouldn't know until later how much you owe, so that you would have to take up with them, I'm glad they have the payment options though, cause 3400 in just a fews weeks is alot of money to hand over even for a good cause.

I got some of my books cheaper i posted about it earlier, but that big book is going to be a killer on the CC cause you can't buy that one used, I would get an older copy but i don't know if there have been major changes that might affect what we learn in class. I'm just glad i kept the receipt for the drug book I bought. i was lucky and not have to take the psych class so i don't have to buy that one, but still mine came out to be more than 250. these uniforms and stuff are expensive especially the lab coat. i just tell myself its worth it.
