Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

So my advisor told me there are talks of doing away with the lottery after this round? Has anyone else heard this? Not sure if it's official yet (and personally, I don't agree with it). I sure hope it's not true!!!

Does anyone know if NCC still offers a Spring start option? I'd ask the advisors but they haven't answered any of my emails since before the deadline. I think they're sick of me already :lol2:

I know TRCC does, so I'd assume yes, especially for those who need Micro, and take in the Fall. I know there is one school that doesn't so far, I think Gateway?

hello, I also applied to nvcc. congrats on the great grades....I have an A in a+p, 3.7 gpa and an 83.3% on my teas.....is the 363 the toal amount of applicants or the total amount of eligible applicants? jeezz, that's seems like a lot.

Those are great stats jodi! I think 363 is the total number of applicants, you have to figure some will not be qualified. I think my advisor at NCC said usually ~15% don't meet the requirements in any given year.

RI, I haven't heard anything about them getting rid of the lottery but your advisor probably knows better than I do haha. I don't think they should get rid of it, but I do think they need to restrict the minimum requirements. I think 3.0, 65 TEAS would be more fair and would shrink the applicant pool a bit. That's just my opinion though.

I agree MissCris, 2.9 usaa. Low requirement GPA. But TRCC candidates, we're moving to GA, for military early next year, so my app will be out if I'm.accepted so one less applicant there: )

Is low!! Gees. I hate autocorrect.

Hi all! I applied to NVCC with a 3.88 nursing GPA, an A in A&P I and an 83.3 on my TEAS. Does anybody know when in April we are supposed to find out? I've heard everything from early to mid to late April. Does anybody know exactly when we will be finding out? This waiting is absolutely killing me!!

Those are great stats jules. Last year we heard around April 10th or so. I read on the Community College website that they are sending out letters through email the week of March 31st to those that are ineligible. Then a week or so after they are emailing eligible and it will say accepted or waitlisted. I went on the CT-CCNP website and it's under applying and there's a red box with the information.

It definitely was later in April for TRCC. It was the last week, and then May was when we received our letters. My advisor told me May, not early April.....

This is what NAM is talking about from the CT-CCNP website:

"Applicants who are eligible for the 2014-2015 academic year will be notified of their admission status (accepted or waitlisted) in mid-April through Self Service under the link "2014-2015 Nursing Admission Decisions" located on the "Student Records" Tab. NO acceptance letters will be mailed; all documents for accepted students will be available for download on Self Service. Applicants that are waitlisted will receive further information in the mail in mid-April."

See, the advisors are wrong too! LOL. Thanks MissCris! :-)

Haha yup! Between previous years threads and my experience this year, I don't think we can always trust the advisors ;) My guess is we'll find out around April 11th, but I'll be fishing around on mycommnet the whole week leading up to it to see if there's a glitch again.
