Who pays to use this site?

I have gotten so much great information from this site, but I just went to send someone a PM and realized I can't because I haven't paid for a membership. What a crock!!

Is any one actually paying to use an online forum???

After you have posted 15 times you can use the PM function.

It's post count, not pay status that is keeping you from pming would be my guess. No, I don't pay because the fee is too high. Lower to something reasonable like $10 and I would.

Not to be insulting, but if you had read the terms of service you would have found out what you can and cannot do.

I pay, I've been here for over a decade. In spite of what it says on my profile...2000...that's when they started using this base for the BB I think.

No, you don't have to pay to use the online nursing forums. It's the extras that you have to pay for--the Nursing Central section has forums for Current Events and other categories for paying members.

As for PM's, as another poster mentioned, your PM function will automatically activate after 15 posts. It always helps to read the Terms of Service because Allnurses moderates based on the TOS. But basically, if you want to post, think three things -- polite, friendly, professional -- and you should be OK.

It's nice to know that you've already gotten good information here. We strive to keep Allnurses the best nursing resource on the Web. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to post in the Admin. Help Desk section. All of the resource links for AN are at the bottom of each page. Enjoy!

Others beat me to it - 15 posts before you can use the pm function and no payment for using the nursing forums.

I do pay to use the extra forums - like the political threads.

Welcome by the way!

It does not matter if you have to pay or not...the information you get here and the friendships you make are priceless....I am a paying member because I believe in supporting this site....

I pay for Platinum but like Spidey's Mom said, the extra forum for the paying members are enjoyable to me. Also, websites like this take money to run. I had no problem doing just that because Allnurses has helped me so much in the last couple of years. I know times are tight for many but I had the meas to donate and I didn't see any reason why I shouldn't. I learned most of the stuff I needed to know BEFORE paying. All the great sections are open to all.

If you get as addicted to this place as most do, you'll have your 15 posts in no time and then be able to PM.
