Eriksoln,

Is it possible you are bent out of shape about something else, not this board?

Ya think? Maybe it was our foreign nurses discussion on another thread.

I've said it before. We need a place to vent, to complain, to pick each other's brains.

I don't go out on a retail site and tell them how they should sing zippidy-do-dah when a customer engages in shoplifting, and how they should be more understanding, don't they know the economy's in the toliet, and if the person happened to hit them while trying to get away, they need to understand that it's an honor to serve their fellow man?

I don't go out on a lawyer site and tell them they should take it in stride if someone tries to hurt them because they got a result they didn't like, and should feel bad about themselves if they don't all join hands and sing "Kumbaya" with their attacker so they don't harm his self-esteem.

See how stupid that sounds for the other professions? Then why is it expected of us?

I am just saying that it does no harm to read/listen to another opinion. I didn't say that I would refrain from calling them a clueless whack job.

Curious, how were you able to ID that poster with the fabricated 20 years experience? I guess I never thought about that, but of course, now that I am thinking about it, I am sure there are several. I guess everyone gets their kicks, huh?

Students too.

I'm talking about the retail store manager who insists their job is exactly like nursing. Or the Bus driver who says they have more stress. Or the part time administrator who thinks they can teach us something about compassion.
OMG, I just pictured all of the....zaniest (zany is diplomatic, right?)....family members I've dealt with--AND all of the people who have written nutso complaints that show up in press-ganey...sitting at home on their computers typing out their opinions of nurses on this board. It made me throw up a little.

That being said, I don't mind the non-RNs here so much, if at all. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out if someone IS actually an RN though. What if we had to put our credentials next to our names? It might look a little cheesy, but you would know before reading a post whether or not the person was in the biz or not. Sure, people could lie about it, but that's not so likely. Most people here aren't lying about being a nurse/cna/student--they're just hard to identify sometimes. I am mostly anon, so if you inspect my info you won't find my gender, specialty, years experience, whatever. But I'd have no problem putting RN next to my name for the sake of keeping it real on these forums.

Oh for goodness sakes!!!!!!!It's "allNURSES.com", NOT "all-students-radiology-techs-cna's,walmartstaffers.com". YES other viewpoints are interesting, informative....however, I think they need a forum of their own....or to satisfy EVERYONE, perhaps "allnurses" should just be changed to a different name. (No, I have no suggestions.) Just my two-cents' worth!

Or there could be categories that a person would have to check off as they register (RN, LPN, nursing student, pre-req student, other, etc.) Yes, some people would lie. But most would probably tell the truth.
Oh hey, I repeated you. Sorry
