One of the mods who "tolerates" me better than others suggested a way to make it so the topic is kosher. I really do want to see if anyone agrees or if I am just.............in need of another AN vacation.

OMG you are so right. Better to be annonymous. Me especially. I love to slam facilities in here.

How about, an NCLEX style questionnaire you have to complete to get access to the nurses only forum? Something we can complete easily but non nurses could not.

Eh, not good...............kind of like what NurseMike said................that'd be work.

So what the mod's suggestion?

Since AN is a business dependent on volume of registered users in order to attract advertising revenue ... it does need to be responsive to the concerns of those registered users.

I think we should welcome their remarks and opinions. There are as many objectionable people within our profession as without. There are probably as many nurses here who write stuff that impacts the perception of our profession. Let them come in and stir us up.

The question to ask yourself really is: "Why don't I like hearing dissenting opinions?"

Closing ranks is not generally the answer. It leads to insular behavior.

I got it, I got it. Dumb suggestion. LOL.

Hmmmm............how to accurately verify people are nurses without risking losing anonymity?

Guess I can see why it is not so easy a problem to fix. Admin. may have already been trying to find a solution and ran into the same problems I am.

Oh yuck, am I sympathizing with administration?

So not my style.

What does insular mean?

hi nurses, first i just want to say i coomend and respect all of u because i know u have all sacrificed to have the titles rn np cna lpn/lvn ect, and respect to all nurses on allnurses is definetely deserved. im not a nurse yet, but will be hopefully in the next 2 years, i actually have to say that i agree with u as far as some things shouldnt be commented on if u cant really understand how it really is. i see some forums and posts about nursing that i would like to comment about but dont because im not there yet (nurse) when i am a nurse or a nursing student maybe i could comment for now i read posts and read comments to learn more about real nursing to prepare me for what to expect when i am there, in other words im here to learn from everyone and to feel encouraged to pursue my goal in becoming an rn i.. i may make comments but usually only regarding posts i can relate to or find inspiring. i hope allnurses doesnt change as far as requiring a license to read posts ect.. i really like this website, and i actually feel welcomed here, this is my favorite website, everyday i come to this website, and it keeps me inspired and encouaged to pursue my goal. but ur right certain posts should be commented on if u truly can relate ex. in field working

Funny, but it is a stark contrast almost to my fav. saying "We are defined by what we do, not the reasons for what we do." That saying relies heavily on others points of view. I think a balance between our two approaches would indeed create a healthy lifestyle.

This is turning into a philosophy class. Is there a philosophy teacher here? Oh, wait, my original point was that there are too many non-nurses. N/M.
Haha! No philosophy lessons! I'm on my first break from school in 2 years! I start the LPN program here in the fall, which here you have to have your LPN to be an RN. I'd be sad if I couldnt access a nursing forum just because I'm not a nurse yet because I attain so much insight and information from nurses like you guys.

I definately agree we could find a balance between our approches. I like reading your posts on here, including this one , theres probably a lot of people thinking it and you actually said it. I could probably stand to speak my mind a little more often. I do find "outsiders" annoying especially since they don't usually say anything we want to hear. I don't know if you consider CNAs in that mix but they are considered "nursing staff" anywhere I've worked & I'm working my stressed out hiney off to be a nurse, which is probably a secondary reason I don't pay much attention to negativity in an attempt to preserve my sanity.

OMG, I got mod'd. Thats a riot and a half.

OK. We'll do an over/under bet.

Over 30 posts, I get to create your sig.

Under, you make mine.

It has to be tasteful whatever the sig is though.
