"new posts"

Is there anyway to decrease the number of new posts, by editing out some topics? I can't go through 20 pages of new posts everyday. I don't want to have to plow through all the zillion posts related to nursing school, student nursing, NCLEX, etc. I've been a nurse for 30 years.

So my question is this: is there any way to edit what comes up when one clicks on New Posts?
