Accidental "Thank You's"

by cardiacRN2006 Premium Member

What can we do about Accidental thank you's? You know, when you mean to quote someone and instead you thank them. Grrrr. That darn thank you button is so close to the quote button, and sometimes I give thank you's out when I really, really don't mean it, lol.

Is there any way to take them back?

I think a rep system would be better.

I was just about to post this question! I did the "thanks" thing instead of quote, too.
I was going to comment on the thread anyway, but I thought it would look weird to make a comment disagreeing with the previous comment when I just finished thanking them.

I'm tired.

Maybe make it a time-limited part of the "edit" function?

That's a good idea.

(And my thank you to you is real!)

It's a good idea to make it part of the edit system, but to the best of my knowledge it wouldn't be possible without extensive modification to the current mod.

One of my hobbies/part time jobs is system admin for a large forum (nearly as large as allnurses) that runs the same exact software (vbulletin) so I'm quite familiar with the "Thank You" mod.

Hypothetically, it is quite easy to move the "thanks" button anywhere else with a quick bit of coding to one template. The simplest solution would be to float it to the left so that it'd be at the bottom left of each post instead of the bottom right. I did this exact thing with the edit button on my forum- users and moderators frequently accidentally hit the edit instead of the quote.
