U.S.A. Colorado

Hi

I am going to start traditional program in spring 2012. I just want to know the possibility to work while in the program? Anyone has experience working while in the BSN program and still have good grades? Any suggestions?

Also I would like to share my background to others. My college GPA is only 2.8 but I got 3.93 for my prereq. So if your college GPA is low, don't give up. Work on your essay, your prereq, and volunteering a lot. Best wishes to all.

You can ABSOLUTELY work part time without difficulty. I work part time at two jobs and FT over the summer. I know some folks who successfully worked full time during a traditional program and others who successfully worked part time during an accelerated program.

My recommendation to you is to complete your first semester which will allow you to take the CNA exam. Apply for a CNA/PCT/SNT/SNI part time position which will make you better off in clinicals and get your foot in the door for a job after graduation.

Congrats on being accepted to nursing school! I am currently in the accelerated program at CU and like Summit said, working part time is doable. I also work 2 jobs right now, I am lucky because both positions allow for flexible hours. I would say at least 75% of my fellow students have a job as a CNA/ACP/nurse extern/etc... right now. Most of these positions require only that you have passed your Med-Surg I class, no CNA license required.

Hey thanks guys

I am a CNA now. I guess I am just worry about being work as a part time will affect my grades. Having poor grades in my previous college degree causes me a lot of trouble, and I try my best to not make the same mistakes.

Thanks for all your input.

This is my first post on this site but I have been looking at it a lot lately.

I have a bachelors degree with a 3.0 GPA. I am just starting my prereqs but was very concerned about my changes of getting into Nursing School. I have some pretty good volunteer experience & have raised money for different non-profits on various occasions. My work experience has been nannying throughout my college career and working as a nursing assistant.

I plan to move to Denver sometime between June & August. I am really concerned about getting into nursing school. I am capable and i'm hoping with a 3.8-4.0 in my prereqs I will have a better chance of getting into the nursing programs. I have been looking at a lot but I am trying to stay in the Denver area. Doe anyone have any suggestions?

I've considered Emily Griffiths for an LPN & applying to an accelerated RN program while working on my LPN or not doing my prereqs this spring and starting them in Colorado in the fall (at University of Colorado in Denver) and then applying to the accelerated program.

I want to stay within 30-40 minutes from Denver. Any suggestions of schools or what I should do?

Thanks!!

Which class is Med-Surg I? I was looking at the course descriptions, and there is not one by that name. I am interested in working as an ACP, and I heard you should apply to it as soon as you are eligible. I will be starting the traditional program in January.
