University of Colorado accelerated BSN summer 2013

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi everyone!

Who else has submitted their application? Due date was October 15th.

I did not realize that an invitational only interview was required! I wish they gave more advanced noticed than October 25th in order to have gotten the best value on a plane ticket.

What are your backgrounds? Are you applying to any other accelerated nursing programs?

I have over 4 years of experience as a medical assistant (college graduate, did not go to school to become MA). I'm happy that this program does not require more prerequisites. Some other accelerated schools around the country require Organic chemistry and Biochemistry! Thankfully I have all my prereqs completed. I do not live in Colorado and I am open to moving anywhere for an accelerated BSN. Other schools I havce applied to so far include UW and SUNY Stony Brook.

I also received my acceptance letter yesterday!! (I am from Oregon)

Like bird8 and SuebNP I applied to the accelerated program but did not get in...

however I am very excited and a 2 year plan may actually be better in the fact that we will have more time to take everything in; although I am worried about living expenses and out of state tuition!

congratulations to everyone :)

Found out today I was accepted to Villanova's BSNExpress program - now to the task of choosing: CU traditional, or TJU or Villanova's accelerated! Happy :)

Does anyone know when in June the program begins?

hello! I'm not sure if anybody checks this thread anymore but I'm from out of state and have only visited Denver once (at interviews)

I was wondering if anybody knows of a good place/neighborhood to live around the school.

Thank you so much :)

If you're looking for a house and neighborhood, Green Vally Ranch out by the airport is an option and is pretty close to UCH. A little further to the east is the Southlands mall area and there are also houses there. If your heart is set in living someplace downtown, allow 30-45 minutes to get out to UCH because Colfax is nothing but lights. I can't comment on apartments in the area because the ones they're hit and miss. If you have questions about areas I might be able to help you out a little. We lived in GVR and had numerous AF friends live in Southlands and I lived in downtown Denver when I first moved there.

Thank you for the information! i just looked up green valley ranch, but as I don't have a car (most likely) do you think it would be a bit far?

I am looking for an apartment since I am moving to colorado by myself, and am not sure how long I will be there (I'm sorry I should have said this in the beginning). I have researched some apartments right by the school but as you've said, most didn't have very good reviews, or they are quite expensive :( I will try looking more, thank you so much for the help!

It is far from any of those spots w/o a car. RTD is the public transportation in Denver and I know there is a bus stop right at UCH. Check them out and try to see if UCD has an RTD fee in their tuition. If they do that means that you get a sticker on your student ID card that allows you to ride the busses and light rail for "free". Good luck with finding a place that works for ya!

thank you, ill look into that!

I hope so too :)

luce8888,

don't know if you have this info already, but i just spoke with someone in the office of student affairs, who said that classes would start the week of june 3rd.

Hi eando,

I am in the same situation as you! Moving to Colorado from out of state, don't know much about the area, and have no car. I am looking into apartment complexes but I have read some very negative reviews about a lot of them... let me know if you find anything!

luce8888,

so good to know that there are others in the same boat :)

yea, I can't seem to find a place with good reviews other than copper flats? and fitzsimons 21 but they're both expensive :/ they do seem like very nice places though and are really close to campus!

Hi everyone,

Just joined allnurses.com, I'll be starting the Traditional program as a 2nd degree B.S. student this summer! Eando and luce8888, I'll be moving from out-of-state as well (PA). My fiance and I are looking at 1 bedroom apartments in the Capitol Hill/Cheesman park neighborhood south of downtown Denver (we know some friends that live there and they speak very highly of the neighborhood). The on street parking situation is typical for city living, but it is close to the bus line on Colfax and about a 20-30 minute drive from campus. You can find a small studio for about $500-600/month. Hope that helps, can't wait to meet everyone!
