thinking about moving to denver

U.S.A. Colorado

I am hoping to move to Colorado, possibly next summer. I am hoping to find a duplex or apartment near the VA Hospital. I was just wondering if this is a "good" area to live in? I would also like the area to be scenic...I've never been to Denver but hope to make a road trip there in a few months. Any advice would be appreciated!

I wouldn't really call the area great. I work at the VA and most of us live elsewhere. If you want a view in that area, all it will be is another building. Better to live outside of Denver and commute if you want the view and it will be cheaper as well. Just remember when you do come that Denver is a city and as such has what a city typically offers. All of the outdoor amenities are not far and the mountains are a hop-skip-jump away. I do like the VA, it's an old facility, but I do believe there are a lot of good people that work there. They have always been helpful and willing to teach. There are a few hiccups on some floors, and the units I believe are very cohesive.

thanks for the reply. what did you mean by "just remember when you do come that denver is a city, and as such has what a city typically offers"? which suburbs would you recommend? there can't be any more "hiccups" than there are where I work! LOL.

I was just saying that although a city can offer cultural diversity, a variety of things to do, etc. it can be cramped, noisy, and expensive just to name a few. If you are into the outdoors however there are plenty of things to do and just a short drive away. As far as suburbs I suppose that depends on what you're looking for. Real estate is expensive in most areas, and if you are looking to rent you can expect to pay a pretty good penny for a nice apartment or condo. Most of the outlying suburbs are growing like weeds. There has been a tremendous amount of building going on in the last few years. Have you checked out any Colorado websites related to relocating or living here? I don't have any off the top of my head but I could look around. I will be honest though and say that I may be the wrong person to talk to because I am leaving in about six months. I think its a great place to visit, but for my career and my family I have to move on. Don't let that discourage you as I am sure that you are looking for something entirely different than myself. This is still a pretty cool place to live.
