Metro Accelerated BSN

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

I am looking for any information, feedback, opinions and thoughts on the Accelerated (13mo) BSN program that Metropolitan State College of Denver offers??? Thanks in advance

I applied for the spring program (the date was by sept 1) just anxious to find out how long it takes until they notify you.

The notifications usually come out in mid to late October.

Hello,

I applied to the spring program as well has anyone heard anything yet? I emailed them and they said mid-November.

Also, has anyone heard anything about them losing their accreditation? I have heard many rumors and I am hoping that they are false?

Could someone tell me more about the program and what it all involves? They really do not have a lot of information on their website and when I went to an informational session last spring I was not impressed. The two women leading it were very unorganized and did not have answers to many of the questions asked.

Does the program use simulation dummies to teach hands on techniques? How are the classes run, is there power points, hands on or just lecture?

If someone could please answer my questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cassie

I am currently in the program. We are undergoing re-accreditation by the NLN, that's probably where the rumors are coming from. This is a standard process that every school has to go through every seven years, I think it is. There is no reason not to expect to pass the re-accreditation.

As for the classes, there is more lecture time than lab time. The lectures are generally power point fests, although some of the teachers try to break things up a bit with group activities and such. There is a simulation lab with the dummies. They are upgrading some of the equipment (of course they had to raise student fees to do it :) ).

There have definitely been some bumps in the road, but overall it's been a very good experience. It's still a fairly new program (we're the seventh cohort) so they are still figuring some things out. The faculty has been great for the most part.

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has heard if they have gotten into the Jan 2011 term? I still have not heard anything and I am getting a little anxious.

Thanks,

Cassie

I haven't heard anything. I'm tired of waiting, but what can you do? Hopefully, we'll find out soon.

I think we're supposed to find something out around the first week of nov. I'm definitely getting tired of waiting!

I called Metro last week and they told me they were a little too ambitious in getting the letters out the by the first so it is delayed til mid November. :icon_roll It's okay, at least they picked up the phone which is more than other schools will do! Not too much longer now!

I just received this email this morning. Wish you all best of luck this week!

Good Morning to you too Cassandra. All decision letters will go out this week (hopefully by Tuesday). Besure to check your US mail and also both personal and mscd.

Thank you for checking.

I love that they actually communicate, I cannot tell you how hard other schools are to get ahold of a real person!
