Does anyone have any info about these LPN programs? Cost, waitlist, etc. Good program/Bad program.

I know this is an old, old thread, but I wonder if anyone out there is going to Emily Griffith or Pickens Tech. How are their LPN programs? Is the waitlist bad, or would it be possible to get into their program in the fall start, if all pre-reqs are already complete? :nurse:

Regarding Emily Griffith, I found this:

...which actually didn't answer the question that was foremost in my mind. I remember a billion years ago (well...about 30, actually ;-)) one had to be a resident of Denver or Denver county to apply to attend there. I have no idea if that is still the case or not. It wouldn't hurt to call them and ask.

Thanks. :nurse: You don't have to be a resident of Denver or Denver county anymore. I applied and got in, and I live in Boulder county. :) I was just wondering if there's a waitlist at Emily Griffith, or would I be able to get right into the program. I'm torn between going to Emily Griffith (the next LPN program doesn't start until fall and I'm not 100% guaranteed to get right in on the next start), or Concorde Career Institute. Concorde starts in April and I'm guaranteed to get in when I pass the N.E.T. and come up with the money. It's still a tough decision though, because Emily Griffith is cheaper and closer to me.

I was just going to suggest Denver School of Nursing (probably more in line with what Concorde costs) but it looks like they don't currently have an LPN program. I just looked at their website...not sure why they don't have that running right now.

I know this is an old thread but I went to Pickens and got my PN certificate there 10 years ago. Pickens is considered a part of the Aurora Public School system which means it is cheaper than private schools. The instruction format is comparable with Emily Griffith and it's a regular M-F program like all others. I'm sure some things have changed since I left but it is a long-standing program. The waitlist might be better than CCD, ACC...but again I'm not sure. It's good to have options, though!

Hello, thanks for your input!! :) I'm actually going to Pickens Tech right now, I was able to get in. The teachers and everyone is great there! I actually feel more like a nursing student and a person at Pickens Tech, not just a dollar sign $ like some of the private schools around here.

Sorry to reply so late, but better late than never, right? I went to Emily Griffith in 1990 and had the best education, if not the best experiance. Don't know about the cost now as when I went it was considered a Denver public school and the cost was next to nothing (38 dollars I think) for the LPN courses. Good luck at Pickens Tech. Please be aware though that a few of the nurses that I know in Cheyenne went throught that program a few years back and couldn't apply those credits for their ADN.
