Free is always better! I need it by clinicals, right? I will ask about that in July. Thank you!
You need it and all other requirements by 1 month before your start date. (That is what I was told anyway, but I did already have my BLS completed)

Does anyone have insight regarding the vocabulary section? I test in August and I've "heard" the HESI guide isn't a sufficient tool to use for this section????

It's super easy, and the study guide is fine. The entrance exam is not hard, just tedious and time consuming for some. The hesi's throughout the program however, they are hard lol.

I took patho online from FRCC, and I was told as long as I received a "C" in the class that it would transfer. I would not recommend taking this class online. Our teacher mentioned it was a harder class that took up more study time if taken online. I think I would have enjoyed this class more on campus.

I took Patho through Santa Barbara City College online.
I'm debating taking it again as part of whatever program I end up in as there was a LOT of content.

Btw... I've got my interview set up for late October w/ DSN for the Jan. 2014 start. Pretty stoked.

I read in the handbook that it's possible for students to have to have clinicals during the 2 week periods between quarters. Can any existing or past students tell me if this is common? Because the 2 week break between quarters is a selling point for the program for me. If I'm doing clinicals during every break, that changes things a bit. thx.

I am a 1st quarter student but I was discussing this with a 5th quarter student yesterday. Apparently there are occasional clinicals during the two week break but not typically. She said it had only happened once to her and it was only something like 4 days. I know that isn't what you may want to hear but I'm really liking school so far. Welcome to DSN.

How has your first quarter been? Everyone so far has just been amazing! My kids got to see Annette's "candy drawer" and take some candy when they met me down there after my HESI, so just off of that they think I am going to be at a great school!

I'd say this is good news! I think some is fine, but having clinicals over every break would be a drag though.

I'm really happy to hear you like the program and thanks for answering my question.

First quarter has been really good. It is a lot of work but that's expected. Most people, students and staff seem to have a great attitude. They really do want us to succeed. In fact, I rapped on the school President's door and took about 5 minutes of her time to discuss something. Pretty cool that she has an open door policy with students.

I've applied for the January '14 start date and have been selected for the interview. Once I do that and pass the exam how long until you know your schedule for the first quarter? I am a nanny on the side so I wanted to make sure I have enough time to tell my family my new schedule.

Schedules always come out about 2 weeks prior to the next quarter. Good luck with everything.

    Hi there,
I know that DSN is very expensive. I was wondering how much it would cost for the RN program having completed all the pre-requisites. I am going to complete all the pre-requisites this fall. So, how much would it cost for the 18 months RN program? If anybody knows, that will be great! Thanks!
