U.S.A. Colorado

Hi everyone!

I'm Ann and I applied to Denver School of Nursing' s BSN april 2014 start date. I wanted to start this thread to see who else applied to the same 2014 start date. It would be nice to know anyone else that has applied. I was thrilled to recently receive an invitation for an interview at DSN and I plan to fly out to Denver from California for the interview and to take the HESI in January! Please do share a little bit of who you are, why you chose DSN, and where you're from. Hopefully this thread will help everyone get to know one another before the cohort begins. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone's responses! :)

Hello Ann! I also applied for the April 2014 start and also got an email to set up an interview!! I have my interview set up for February and I am SUPER exited!!!

Hi Nurse80603! My interview is on Jan. 14th. Are you from Denver? right now I'm starting to study for the exam. Do you know anyone who has taken the exam at DSN? I was wondering how easy or difficult it is. Im excited but also nervous at the same time!

Since I have never been to Denver and have no clue about this state, I was wondering if anyone who is currently residing in Denver could give me info regarding how the city is is, the weather, etc. Also, how the school itself is like and what to expect during the first quarter/term of nursing school. How is a typical week like? Since Im from CA and will have to move to Denver to start school, does anyone know where in Denver I can find a decent, yet affordable apt. ??? I have a cat so preferably a pet friendly apt. would be nice :) (possibly near DSN) I am also looking for a roommate(s). If you're someone who is also looking for a place in Denver and also seeking a roommate, we can discuss this together! Feel free to contact me at [email protected] --- any info would be grrreat! Thank you!

Would you mind sharing your stats? I have a BA in busniess and have worked in the PICU for 3 years as a nurse tech. My gpa is low around a 2.8. Any words of advice would also be much helpful!

Hi! I applied in December for the July 2014 start date. Last week I received an email asking if I could move up to the April 2014 for the BSN completion start date. I confirmed that I would like to do that. I was then told that I would be contacted to set up an interview. I am now just waiting for someone to contact me. They said it could be up to 2 weeks. Also, my email asking me about the April start date came in my junk mail folder so make sure to check your junk email folder! I almost missed mine.

For anyone interested I didn't not have a great gpa. I applied with a 2.8 gpa. I have a previous bachelors degree in psychology. I also have worked previously as a CNA, I did an internship with frontier house in Greeley CO ( internship was rehabilitation counseling), and I currently work at interim healthcare as a personal care worker ( I am not using my CNa license, I planned on using it but loved my client that I take care of so I decided to stay with them for the time being). For my admissions essay I wrote about my previous degree and healthcare experience.

I have previously taken the hesi test for another nursing schools application process.

I am assuming I will need to take it again. I have started to review materials to study for the HESI test for DSN. I am using McGraw-Hills nursing school entrance exams 2nd edition ( non pax-RN, TEAS, pSB-RN, and HESI A2 tests are all included) also I used this website http://caring4you.net/Hesi_StudyGuide.pdf. I just brushed up on my conversions, percentages, fractions, ratios, measurements excreta...

Hopefully soon I'll have more information!

Hello everyone! I also initially applied for the July 2014 start date and received the offer by e-mail if I would like to move to the April start. I am waiting for the call. I had to drop the Spring term's courses at Metro for Regis pre-reqs and UCCS. I'm hoping the test and the interview go well and I can actually start in April. Good luck to everyone, looking forward to getting to work. As far as the questions on apartments, I would also recommend a place near a light rail station.

Does anyone have any info regarding tuition at DSN? I know tuition is 55k for the BSN program. I understand that federal loans will only cover a portion of the tuition and the rest will have to be paid out of pocket OR through a private loan. Im a lil worried about getting a private loan because as far as I know, my credit is not the best it could be. Will this make it difficult for me to apply for a private loan? I am thinking about asking a relative to be my co-signer, but again, I'm still worried that my credit will hinder my chances of getting a private loan. Anyone have any insight about this? thank you!

I just received my email to set up my interview! I can't wait till February 17th. :)

Congrats on April acceptance but has anyone received an acceptance letter for the July start date?

Shel,

Congrats on getting an interview! If you don't mind me asking, what did they say when they called you? Do they tell you a date to be there or do you choose one within a time frame?

Hi DrayD,

I initially applied to the July 2014 start date but I got an email asking if I'd like to move to the April 2014 start date since they had open spots in that cohort. I said yes I would like to start in April. The lady then emailed me saying I'd hear back from an admissions representative in about two weeks to set up a time for an interview/tour. A week after I got an email congratulating on moving forward with the application. It also talked about the interview and tour of the school. At this time you will get to review you application with the representative , take a tour, go over requirements and get more in depth information. At the end of my interview I will set up a time to take the test and pay the $40 hesi test fee along with getting a study guide. I was then told a week that she was available and sent in what days in that week I could come in and then the admissions representative picked the final date.

I received my first email in my junk mail so be sure to check! I almost missed mine.
