Hello, I am applying for the July 2014 start. The application doesn't start until November.. But I am confused as to how the tuition is paid.. I read that financial aid should cover about half.. but what is the deal with the monthly payments?

Each quarter has a total amount owed, which is then split into monthly payments. So let's say your 12 weeks quarter is $3000. You would owe $1000 each month. It does change a bit for each quarter. You can always withdraw private or personal loans to help pay for school too! I know most of us are relying almost totally on financial aid because it is very difficult to work and go to nursing school at the same time. Some students manage and I am baffled!

So without financial aid, it is $3000 or $1000? Is it possible to get financial aid to cover all of tuition? I am not sure where I will get the money to pay 1000 a month considering I wont be able to work...?

It will be more than $1000 a month without loans. That was just an example to try and explain, which I'm bad at. Sorry! It's possible to get loans to cover the entire tuition if you pull out private or personal loans on top of federal loans. If you contact financial aid, they will send you a great spread sheet with how much each semester will cost you so you can plan out your financial aid a bit better.

Okay! Thanks for the info! :] It is starting to make sense now!!
Are you enrolled there? How do you like it, if you are? I have heard some bad things like, unprofessional, and shouldn't go there. But I have also heard great things.. a little confused. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I started a month ago, and I am having a great time so far! My cohort is starting to settle in, and I think it is going to be a fun group to be with. I would take lightly what you hear from others (especially online....seems to be only complaints). No place is perfect, but the school does have a "family" feel to it. The SNA (Student Nurse Association) works hard to help out the community and tries to have fun with the students too, and the Global Health Perspective program is amazing too! Check out DSN's Facebook page, and they have posted some letters they have received from clinical sites about their students, which I think says a lot about the program. It really is what you want to make of it!

Yes I completely agree that school is what you make of it! How are your professors? Thanks for your comment! It makes me feel better to hear from someone that knows first hand!

Did you have your interview yet? I just had mine for the April start and basically he explains how the school works, you talk with financial aid, and get a tour of the school. I'm taking the HESI test in January. SO exciting!!

Does anyone know how the interview is like?? I heard that its pretty chill and all the advisor does is talk about the school and payment options... so once you pass the entrance exam, you're pretty much set to go. Is this true? I'm a b it nervous about the interview! any info regarding this is much appreciated. thanks!
