Contemplating Moving to Colorado

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi, I am contemplating moving to Colorado. I would like to know how likely it is to find places of hospital employment w/8-hr shifts in Colorado. I live in an area of the country currently where, literally, there is no hospital jobs that offer 8-hr shifts; only 12-hr shifts. Also, I would like to know how many pts is considered "the norm" in Denver-area hospitals for Med-Surg nurses and what the average salary rate per hr is for a 10-yr Med/Surg ADN nurse w/3 yrs of CM experience and fully bilingual in Spanish. Thanks a lot for any info.

Hey,

I don't know of any hospitals in the Denver Metro area that do 8 hour shifts, unless you are a manager. Pay, I think that most hospitals will give you either .50 cents or $1.00 for every year of experience that you have. I don't know about the language thing, but that is a huge plus especially in Denver. I know I see a lot of patients that speak Spanish and I wish I could speak it. The ratio of patients at my hospital is 4-5 on days and 5-6 for nights. I think that is pretty typical though of most hospitals.
