Children's Hospital Colorado Nurse Residency Program August 2013

U.S.A. Colorado

I didn't find another topic relating to the new grad RN program for Children's Hospital Colorado, so I decided to start a thread.

Anyone else apply for the August cohort?

I live in San Diego right now, but have visited Denver a handful of times and really love it out there. I dont know too much about Children's CO, so if anyone would like to share any advice or info I would love to hear it!

Congratulations Sassy29RN! I haven't heard anything yet. I'm thinking if the recruiters got in contact with applicants today they may have chosen all the top candidates. Good luck with your interviews and exam!

Sassy29RN, I received a call yesterday. I have back-to-back interviews for 2 units, as well. I've talked with some friends and we have no idea what to expect with the written scenarios. Definitely has me nervous! Best of luck!

Congrats thefmgirl & best of luck to you too! So you are interviewing for 2 separate units? The recruiter told me I would have 2 back-to-back interviews but she didnt say it was 2 different units. When I asked her which unit, she told me ED (which was my first choice). So I just kinda assumed that one interview would be with HR and the other would be with the ED manager... But maybe its two different ED sites??

Has anyone gone through this process before with Children's Colorado & can give us some insight regarding the interview process? Thx.

Sassy29RN, that's very interesting. For me, she said it was NICU and CCBD, which is the only reason I know it's different units. Perhaps the ED has more than one manager doing the interviewing? It won't be long before you find out! You're probably right that it's HR and then the unit. That makes a lot of sense.

I have an interview too! I heard that for those only interviewing for 1 unit, one of the interviews is with ppl from the unit and the second interview is with the nurse managers and the new grad program director. But thats how it was for the march program, so who really knows if it will be the same this time around. Good luck to everyone!

Where is everyone from? Ill be traveling from CA

Thanks for the info thefmgirl and 3veggiesRN. Makes sense.

3veggiesRN, Have you heard anything about what type of interview it will be... ie behavioral, clinical, etc? I am just not sure how to prepare!

I am coming from Cali as well! :)

I'm in Colorado. Ironically, I applied in CA and couldn't get an interview to save my life. They seem very local-oriented there. Glad y'all have interviews and have safe travels!

Not sure about the exact type of questions, but I would think they would relate to why this hospital/unit and past clinical experiences (since thats all we have to go off of r/t nursing).

New grad programs in CA are pretty competitive, especially peds. I did my internship at the childrens hospital by me and still didnt get an interview! Fingers crossed our interviews goes well!

Hi everyone, I also got the call for interview. The recruiter mentioned on the phone that an email would be sent out later with more detailed info but I haven't received anything so far. Did anyone get any email from the hospital?

Has anyone who got an interview gotten their packet yet? They said this week via email-- but I still haven't gotten mine.

Does anyone know if they are still calling for interviews? I applied but haven't heard anything yet. Just trying to figure out if I'm still in the running or not. Thanks and good luck to those with interviews!!

Scratch that - just got an email that I'm out. Good luck everyone!
