Working in Summit County

Is it diffucult to find work in Summit County (Dillon, Vail, Breckenridge)? If you are working there can you tell me what some of the facilities are like? I'm sure there must also be many travel nurse opportunities in the winter months, right?

My aunt is an RN and lives in Breckenridge - but commutes to Denver to work. She said it is hard to full time work in that area - most places only hire PRN.

All the ski areas - especially Vail hire extra nurses for the ski season. From what I have seen they usually hire in all areas but if you have experience in the ER they hire heavy there. If you want to go spend a winter there they usually start posting their jobs in the fall.

I live in SE Colorado, but we lived in the Breckenridge area for 7 years when I was a young child (specifically Keystone and then Dillon Valley). The problem we found was that even if the pay was ok, the cost of living was too high to survive. Do you find that working as a nurse in Vail? Or is the pay decent enough to live on? I often miss the area and long to go back (except then I remember the winters - LOL!), but I am curious. Thanks!

Vail also uses Travelers. It is nice, when high, to have the living expenses covered by the AGency.

Yes, the cost of living is ridiculous. I do get paid more here than Denver but it still would not allow me to buy a house in Vail. A townhouse in Eagle maybe. It's all about choices...I love the mountains, skiing, hiking etc., have no children, only myself to take care of. There are plenty of nurses who have families but they definitely rely on a dual income. Traveling is a good option.

I hear you there. I am renting right now, and my husband and I are trying to figure out if we will ever be able to afford to buy a house. I like living here though.

If anyone is looking to live here, home health is hiring in Eagle County,
