want to move to Colorado Springs

Hi! I don't live in the Springs, I live in Southeastern Colorado, but I like it. We are not near the mountains - more like KS out here, but it is very peaceful and serene. I consider the Springs to have a very high cost of living and a lot of traffic, but I think that in comparison to LA, it is probably very small and much better on the traffic. It has grown a lot in the past several years, so I think it will continue expanding. Overall though, it is a pretty community with a view of the mountains. Good luck in whatever you choose.

People in Colorado Springs consider the traffic horrible, and it is -- from the standpoint that road expansions do not keep pace with the influx of population. That said, I don't think you would find the traffic worse than LA. (Is there any traffic situation worse than southern Cal?! LOL)

A different aspect you might want to consider, coming from ultra-liberal California, is that Colorado Springs is home to more conservative Christian organizations than anywhere else in the world. This makes for an exceedingly conservative political and social structure there. Culturally, it's going to be very different from what you're used to.

I consider Colorado Springs my hometown, having partly grown up there and lived there 20+ years. I am now living in New Mexico, where I moved to take care of my elderly in-laws. THE MINUTE I get my BSN (in about two years), I am outta here and back to Colorado.

The culture in Colorado Springs (Conservative Christian) makes for a strange atmosphere. Southern Cal is pretty conservative in areas (especially compared to NorCal). I'd say Southern California is NOT ultra liberal, however is comparable to Denver's suburbs in it's political/social climate.

Personally, I like some color and flavor (minorities/culture) so, if that's what you are looking for, you might not like the Springs for it is hardly a melting pot.

Also, if you are used to "Cosmopolitan" amenities, then Denver is where you want to be.

The area is beautiful as are all mountain areas in CO, but the city is...okay.
