Thoughts on Denver School of Nursing?

by JettaDP

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Denver School of Nursing? I noticed they have several start dates throughtout the year so does this mean the acceptance rate is decent?

If anyone has some general advice on getting into the school I would greatly appreciate it. I have an A in every pre-req they require so I think I'm off to a good start.

As long as you completed all the pre-reqs, they will accept you into the programs. The good thing about school is that you don't have to wait that long for the nursing program since they have several starting dates, however the school tuition is expensive. You can download the application at their website. goodluck

I saw that they are expensive. Paying extra will be worth it if I don't have to wait more years to get accepted somewhere else.

Is it a good school, though? I've been considering applying also, but I don't know anything about the quality of education.

So far I have heard good things about the school. I know a couple of people that were happy with the program. I've heard that have a good rate of people who pass th NCLEX on the first try.

I have heard nothing but good things about the program. I know a lot of people are worried about the school not being accredited yet. Every student is grandfathered into the accreditation once they do obtain it, which makes me feel better. I have no doubt they will be eventually, it just takes time. All of the staff I have delt with regarding entrance and finances has been stellar. I can honestly say I feel comfortable with my decision to attend at DSoN.
Good luck in your search!

I am currently attending DSN and I just wanted to share what we have been told by the administration. There is no such thing as 'grandfathering' for the accreditation process. Once they obtain accreditation, they are accredited and you don't have to state that you graduated before that date, unless you are asked, of course. Anyone that plans on continuing their education to obtain their MSN, needs to get more information. But if not, I would easily recommend DSN.

I just graduated from DSON in December, I got my LPN there in 05 and went back in 07 for my RN. It's a lot of work and can be challenging at times. Most of the instructors are good, if you are having trouble, they are willing to help as long as you catch it early. If anyone has any questions from a former student there feel free to ask!

From what I know, as long as you have completed your pre-reqs they pretty much accept you. I didn't have to wait at all when I went there for my LPN and only had to wait 4 months when I went back for my RN. That is a good thing about the school! I graduated in December and passed NCLEX 1st try!!
