Platte School of Nursing

Hi! Anyone currently in this school? I would like to attend but would like a little "insider info" first. Thanks for your help!

Try searching "Platt" without the "e" and "Denver". There are several posts on this topic.

Wildchipmunk-
Thanks for the help! I learned a LOT of stuff that I wish would have been told to me in the info session. I'm kind of bummed, I feel like I was mislead.

Skiles - Are you thinking of attending any other Colorado schools? Have you gone to any other info sessions?

Yes. I applied to UCHSC and wasn't accepted. That leaves Regis (has too many pre-reqs I don't want to have to pay for, such as Religious Studies), Metro (just as hard to get in to as UCHSC) and Denver School of Nursing (not an option since Federal Financial Aid can not be used there). Platt looked like my best option but all the things I found out about accreditation have me pretty scared. Any ideas?

The accreditation issues - such as not having your courses transfer anywhere else?? I wish DSON took Stafford/Pell. It would make it a lot easier for people. Concorde offers an RN Associates degree. Would that help you out?

That's exactly how I felt about Platt, Skiles. As you may have read, I went to their Information session and felt misled as well.

Metro's program is only for those who already have an RN and are just completing their Bachelor's.

UNC is another option though, as is Beth El in Colorado Springs (CU-CS). They're also really hard to get into.

Concorde has the same drawbacks as far it being considered a vocational/technical school. This means you will not be able to continue on to a Master's (at least at schools such as Regis or CU), work for a Magnet hospital, or work for the military as you must have a Bachelor's from a school accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. This is the school's accreditation, NOT their nursing program's accreditation. So whether or not Platt or Concorde get accrediation by NLN or CCNE, it would make no difference to those employers or to most graduate programs.

I am going to PM you though.
