Northern Colorado

Anyone live or know anything about city's north of Denver? Boulder, Ft Collins, smaller towns up there? Right now my family lives south of Denver, in Parker. I like it, but it is pretty expensive. We are thiking of moving and are considering lots of areas. Both my husband and I work in Denver, but we do not want to live in the Aurora/Denver area. What are the areas like? How expensive is it in northern colorado? What are the schools like (we have two small kids, our daughter is in kindergarten and our son is almost two, so will start school in a few years). Any info or advice would be appreciated.

(Oh, I did a search, but the only thread I could come up with was over 2 years old, wanted more recent info) Thanks!

I live in Boulder and love it, I consider it a great quality of life, but it is very expensive. It also takes a certain tolerance of college students, hippies, and uber-ego athletes.

Longmont is cheaper and they have a nice hospital (Longmont United). Louisville, Lafeyette, Erie and Superior are all smaller suburbs/towns that are full of young families and close to hospitals(Avista and Exempla). I have heard Ft. Collins was voted one of the best places in the nation to live. Definately worth a day trip to check out if you have never been.

I have also heard that Northern Colorado is an exception to the nursing shortage. There are definately jobs - but no bonuses and few new grads getting hired in.

I used to live in FC....it is a great place to live in many regards, as well as is the rest of northern CO. I agree that the job market is pretty tight for alot of professions including nurses.
