Need advice from Denver


Hey everyone! I am moving to the Centennial CO area in February. My husbands company is transferring him. I am currently an LVN and I just finished updating my pre-reqs for the LVN-RN transition program here. Our programs are competetive, and based on my grades I have a really good chance of getting in....BUT...now I am not going to be here. SO....I have been looking online trying to find schools in the Denver area that have LPN to RN transition programs. I only found 2 or 3. I am willing to drive to the boonies if need be to get to school. Can someone give me some names of schools that offer this program. Also, how is the job situation for LPNs there? I have been looking online and it doesnt look to good. I have 7 years experience as an ER nurse. I realize it isnt likely that I will find that there. But maybe in an urgent care facility. Also, does anyone know if there are jobs for LPNs with staffing agencies or per diem positions?

Any tips or advice on living in CO would be much appreciated. My husband, kids, and I have lived on the gulf coast in Texas our whole lives and the change is going to be huge..but an adventure.

From my experience, most nursing programs lose several students the first year, so if there is a LPN applying into the second year (RN part) it isn't hard for them to get in (if prereqs are done) since there are open spots b/c of the students who dropped out, failed out, or whatever.

Most LPN jobs exist in LTC facilities in CO. You probably could get hired in a urgent care or dr office, but the pay is low b/c these places get away with hiring medical assistants and they only make around $12.

Hi Divegirl! I live in the Centennial area too! so Welcome (soon)! I think you will enjoy it, but I am biased. How old are your kids?
