From my experience, most nursing programs lose several students the first year, so if there is a LPN applying into the second year (RN part) it isn't hard for them to get in (if prereqs are done) since there are open spots b/c of the students who dropped out, failed out, or whatever.
Most LPN jobs exist in LTC facilities in CO. You probably could get hired in a urgent care or dr office, but the pay is low b/c these places get away with hiring medical assistants and they only make around $12.
