Moving to Ft. Collins

Good luck in Ft. Collins! I love it there. I lived there for a while, and do most of my shopping there. I'm not a nurse yet, but know there's another hospital - Poudre Valley that's is actually in Ft. Collins (Banner is in Loveland). Also, I know the hospital in Cheyenne does all of its hiring of new grads at the same time - starting I believe in March or April. Maybe Banner does it the same way - you might contact personnel. O6Grad - 3 people fro,y nursing class are working at United Medical in Cheyenne and I hear that they love it. I also interviewed there. There is a new hospital being built by Loveland - it's going to be a Level II opening in Spring/Summer of 2007 - they are hiring 400+ new nurses. I have heard that this is suppose to be a nice hospital. Also you might want to look a little south of there towards the Denver Metro - there are a lot of hospitals and your commute won't be that bad.

I live in ft collins. To be honest, there aren't many nsg jobs here right now. Part of the reason for this is the local CC doubled their admissions to the nsg program a couple years ago - basically to staff the new hosp. but it won't open for another year. You'll have much better luck in Denver. Some of the big names (each owns several hospitals) are Exempla healthcare, Centura healthcare, HCA. You can pull them up on the search engines. I know they all have new grad programs, but only hire for them at certain times of the year.

Just out of curiosity, what brings you to ft. collins?

As for cars, if you do commute, I would go for a toyota, honda or saturn! They are the most economical, but that is just my opinion.

It is very driveable - I do it every couple of weeks. In good weather it takes a little over 1/2 an hour. There are several people in my nursing class who commute from Ft. Collins to Cheyenne due to the long wait-lists in Colorado.
