Lutheran? Of C?

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about working at Lutheran of University of Colorado in Denver. I am heading out for a couple of interviews shortly and wanted to see if there was some general ideas about working in either place. Location is somewhat of a factor in my decision but Im more curious about general conditions and the contentment of staff.

Anyway, any little thoughts would be helpful.

Hi there! I am not close with anyone who works at either place, however I do know some people who have worked at both...from what I've heard, both places are great to work at! I've heard really wonderful things about the staff being at University Hospital. Pretty much the same at Lutheran, nothing bad at all. I'm biased towards Lutheran as I live on that side of town and think it's much better to live over here then where CU is! ;-) Good luck!!!

I worked as a tech at Lutheran while an undergrad. Absolutely loved it. I can't really compare it to UCHSC because I never worked there, but I used to drop patients off there and the ED staff were always professional and courteous to me.
As for location, Lutheran's neighborhood is okay, but can be rough in some ways if you aren't used to it. The new Fitzsimons campus is in an area that was rough during the days I was a medic in the area, but I hear they have really fixed it up. What say, crowd? Is north Aurora still all that bad? Because I would actually recommend it over Wheat Ridge/NW Denver.
Regardless, the staff I meet from both places seem very pleased with their respective work places.

UserG - I didn't mean right where Lutheran was located, I just meant this side of town...I live in the Green Mountain area of Lakewood, so not right next door, but pretty close to Lutheran. I think they're gentrifying where UCHSC is, however it's still kinda ghetto in my opinion. However, there are no real ghetto's here (sorry, I'm from a big city, so my definition is much different than Denverites it seems).

it looks like we will probably be living in broomfield or louisville, somewhere in that area. my wife will be working as a teacher in boulder so we thought to split the difference in commute times. as it is, i am commuting 50 minutes each way here in chicago.

i have heard good things about each hospital which is very encouraging. u of c is a little out of the way but there are some advantages to working there as well. anyway, keep the comments rolling.

I used to do the commute from CU-Boulder to Lutheran. That hill can be a real nail-biter when it has been snowing a bunch. But the traffic isn't too bad, depending on the time of day. Boulder is expensive, so many people live outside and commute in for the day. That could be problems for your wife, but congrats and best of luck!
