Help choosing classes at PPCC

by robynv

Because I went to school so long ago and my MA credits won't transfer, I need to start all over.

I am taking Bio 090 (pre req for A and P) English 121, and Psych 101(pre req for for Human growth and development)

This summer I would like to take A and P 201 and math 060 ( I am terrible in math but working on it) and maybe human growth and devolpment.

How hard is the psych class? How hard is anatomy? In the fall could I do Aand P 202 with Micro in the same semester? Is this realistic or will I set myself up to fail?
I am hoping those who have gone before will give me some honest insight thanks!

I am not attending PPCC but I have taken all of those classes. I took A&P 2 and Micro in the same semester but that is all I took that semester. I did the ccconline courses and it was tough but I made it through pretty well. It can be done. Good luck to you!!

Hey there, my first semester I took the prereq to the A&P classes, BIO 104 and PSY 101. Personally, I found it quite doable. It's easier than this year, BIO 201 and ENG 121. I plan on taking BIO 202 and Micro together as well. I've had several people tell me it wasn't as bad as they thought. I figure, this is all good prep for full time nursing programs!

Good Luck!

Who do you have for Eng 121? I have Slaughter and I am not sure about her yet.

I am doing it online, and have Trafton. It's just ALOT of reading and writing... imagine that?

Hi there Robyn!

I took A&P II and Micro together in the same semester and spent about 10 hours a week studying. It was completely doable.

As for online classes, in my experience, I ended up spending a lot of time on busywork that did nothing to help me retain the information. I passed the classes, but the material did not stick. I much prefer to spend my time going to lecture and studying, rather than coming up with 10 thread starters and responses each week, papers, etc...

Good luck with math!

Well I am glad to get the responses. Thanks. I keep going over and over the pre req classes, trying to find the shortes route to get these done! Starting all over really has me bummed out. It seems like such a long road.

Is Human growth a hard class? lots of writing? teacher reccomendations?

bekindtokittens-- how is your second semester going? I hope you are well!

Hey Robyn. I plan on taking A&P 1 and Human Growth and Development this summer and then A&P 2 and Micro in the fall. That's provided I get permission to skip Bio090. But as I last took A&P in high school and haven't had chem since freshman year of college, I'm not sure they'll let me. I'm going to the nursing info session on Feb 4th so after that I'll set an advising appointment and go from there. Good luck!

I am going to that session on the 4 th as well!

Let me know if you take A and P this summer maybe we can get in same class and study together. It would be nice to study with someone.

I will let you know. I was just looking at the catalog and I see that I can take Bio 090 on the late start semester (although I can't find an exact date of when that is) so maybe I can get into that class if need be. Maybe I'll see you at the info session.
