can't believe what they are doing ..

Seems I here more often about waiting list, lottery type. and such. yet everyday you here about a nursing shortage dont add up

Because, they conveniently leave off the word--"experienced"---experienced nursing shortage.

So. ahem...

Anyone from PPCC get the letter yet that gives us the official rules? I've heard about it but still i can't believe they changed it just when I finished my pre-reqs.
Also for the military spouses, the wait list for us is no more. This is from the dean of the nursing section that I ran into at the Falcon campus. Something about accreditdation or lack thereof.

I may look into the Radiology program at Memorial since it would probably be easier to get into that?......... but with how things are who knows.....

Well it is official. I just got my letter. Apps have to be in by April 13. Same as the rumers only now must have CNA or classes taken

I got my letter today as well. It's exactly like they stated except there isn't a breakdown of points except for the grades. How many extra points are they giving for a previous degree? The TEAS?, etc?. I guess I'll just have to go to the info session on March 26th to find out. I'm excited though but I wonder what I'm up against? No room to do the pre-reqs over unless you are going to wait until Fall 2010 to apply. So, how about PPCC students? GPA? TEAS exam date and score? My GPA is a 3.8 so, 38 points for that. I've taken my CNA class already (yeah)! No previous degree and my testing date for the TEAS is April 3rd!

Can you all type out what the letter said?

This is very true. For many RN positions, you will not even be considered unless you have EXPERIENCE and I personally forsee it getting increasingly difficult for new grads to get their foot in the door with CO hospitals in the next few years.

Also they are now requireing CNA. Which just sucks for me as I have not taken it and promised my family I wouldn't go to school over the summer. Looks like I will have too..

Does anyone know if the first two semesters are only open to those of us already on the list?

Hi Robyn - The letter stated that the people on the waitlist will get into classes first. The PPCC waitlist is approx. 3 years and they let approx. 50 students into each semester. So there are about 300 of us already on the waitlist. I can't imagine PPCC letting anyone else in that hasn't completed pre-reqs yet. I guess it's possible though that a 4.0 student who just finished their pre-reqs will beat out a 2.5 GPA student who has been on the waitlist for 6 months. I will tell you that I don't think anyone else received a letter who isn't already on the waitlist with the changes. The first line was, "You are receiving this letter because you are on our current waitlist". How long have you been waiting?
