I live in Ohio right now and work in an ER. I lived in Highland's Ranch, Colorado for two years. We moved because it was way to expensive for us to live there and we have family in Northern Kentucky. I worked at Denver Health Medical Center. If you want great benefits and great pay, this is the best place to work. I worked in their trauma, SICU. The staff was so wonderful, and willing to teach. I was not ready for that intensive environment at that point in my life. I would recommend this hospital to any nurse that is moving to the Denver are. Denver Health Medical Center isthe Rocky Mountain Region's Leve 1 trauma center. Just an awesome place! I wish you the best of luck in Denver and in your carreer!

You know when I first moved to Denver I worked at Rose on their telemetry floor. There were a ton of travelers hardly any regular staff. I did not have a good time there. I guess I am more into the not-for-profit hospitals that care for the poor and indigent. Rose seem to cater to those with money, but maybe it has changed since then. Denver Health was intense, though. It was not a good time in my life to work in that kind of environment. If you have a lot of stress at home and then you go to your job and have more stress, well, it's awful. My life has definately calmed down a little now to where I could do trauma. Would I do it again....No. Trauma nursing has to wear on you after a while. Good luck to you.

I would definitely classify Rose as a community hospital, however, they are now much busier since University moved to Aurora. They have expanded their ER, and they are no doubt seeing more of the indigent patients that the U left behind in that side of Denver. I worked at Rose too, and I wouldn't say it was a bad experience. I just say that for-profit and non-profit hospitals have somewhat different priorities and ways of operating--and you have to decide which works for you.
