Re: Anyone else starting UCHSC in June?
I started the traditional 2 yr program last June. I have had clinicals with several people in the accelerated program. The traditional program has been great. The professors and clinical instructors have all been professional, respected in their fields and genuinely interested in helping students advance. Our workload has been heavy but doable. I have an 11 yr old at home so I try to reserve the weekends for family time. This has worked for the most part. The main exception was with Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. With a test each week some weekend time really was needed. The schedule for the accelerated program seems a bit overwhelming to me but the students in it seem very happy although they don't seem to have any kind of personal life. The only thing I have not been pleased with is the situation for the labs that go along with Nursing Fundamentals and Intro to Health Assessment. I'm sure that situation will improve when the move to Fitzsimmons is complete. I was informed of my acceptance early in November for the program starting the next June. With just 2 more semesters and only 2 major clinicals left, I feel like I'm on the downhill side finally.Good luck. Let me know if you are accepted, I'd be happy to meet you.
